Fashion Week is one of the largest events in the fashion industry, it takes place in many famous fashion capitals such as Paris. In my opinion, Paris is the center of luxurious fashion, beautiful people, and romantic culture. In past years of fashion week, the social media presence of brands has been limited to platforms such as Instagram and Twitter, but with the introduction of TikTok, they have begun utilizing their platform to target a new audience. Instagram has a range of users, making it broader in more professional, while TikTok is mainly younger people creating a range of content including dancing, humor, food, workout, and fashion. My feed consists of fashion, and have been exposed to many luxury brands with their presence advertising the upcoming events of Fashion Week. Not only have I seen the PR for fashion week, but videos of the upcoming seasons.
Dior was the first show of Paris Fashion Week, and they streamed their show on the social media platform, TikTok. The season 2021 revisited the concept of clothing for its ethos, from sleek coats to men shirts.
As a user of TikTok, I noticed Dior showing up on the feed, using creativity, and giving a sneak peek to all the people who use the app. I think it is super interesting seeing such a high fashion brand show up on an app that people of all demographics use. It is unusual to see brands such as Dior and Louis Vuitton reach out to influencers and celebrities and ask them to post about their upcoming season, but with the rise and power of social media high fashion has become more mainstream. Because COVID things have changed in the past few months and many brands have been smart about their use of advertisements and digital platforms.
Personally, I am really enjoying seeing more high fashion brands, it gives consumers the confidence that they could one day afford and pay for the products. It is the future of luxury fashion.
Dior is a brand I have always looked up to when I am looking for style inspiration, and for decades they have created beautiful pieces of clothing. Even as a child, I was intrigued by the world of fashion and was constantly designing and having fashion shows for my parents. Brands like Dior have enticed me to join the world of fashion and get a taste of what that life would be like. My goal would be to become apart of any creative time or work on social media.
